Made in Korea: what goes into a SEASEE filter

SEASEE filters are made in South Korea. A plain account of the materials, sizes and operating ranges we can state, and why we say what is inside.

Quick summary

  • SEASEE filters are made in South Korea.
  • The shower head filter stacks five layers in a disc 6.5 cm across and 2 cm thick.
  • The basin kit body uses ECOZEN, a biomass-based plastic from SK Chemicals, around an ACF combination filter.
  • We publish only what we can state plainly: materials, sizes and published operating ranges.

SEASEE filters are made in South Korea. This article sets out what we can say about what goes into them: the layers, the materials, the sizes and the published operating ranges. Where we do not have a fact, we leave it out, and that rule is part of the brand.

Think of it as the label on the back of the box, written out in sentences. You will find numbers and material names here, but no performance figures: we publish only what we can state plainly.

Why we state materials plainly

A filter is a small object that sits in your bathroom for months, and most of what it does is out of sight. So the least we can do is say, in plain words, what it is made of and how big it is. We call this being plainly made: we say what is inside.

It also shapes what we leave out. We do not put percentages on the page, and we do not describe parts we cannot name. A short, accurate list is more useful than a long, vague one. The Why SEASEE page tells the wider story.

The shower head filter: five layers

The head filter is a disc 6.5 cm across and 2 cm thick. It stacks five layers, in this order:

Layer What it is
1 Micro fabric filter
2 Activated carbon filter
3 Ceramic ball layer
4 Chlorine-reduction ball layer
5 Micro fabric filter

Together with the sediment body filter in the handle, the disc is designed to help hold back sediment and reduce residual chlorine before water leaves the shower head.

The basin kit: a biomass-based body

The basin kit body is made from ECOZEN, a biomass-based plastic from SK Chemicals in South Korea. Inside it sits an ACF combination filter, where ACF stands for activated carbon fibre.

The facts we can give are modest and exact:

  • The body is 43 mm across and 43 mm tall, not counting the connector.
  • The body thread is M22 x 1.0, and the standard connector that comes fitted is M24 x 1.0, with 7 spare connectors in the box.
  • The face plate is stainless steel, with about 780 holes of 0.20 mm.

The basin refill

The refill is the part you change, and its published details are short:

  • Parts: a PP sediment layer, activated carbon fibre (ACF) and a ball-media core.
  • Size and weight: 35 mm across, 33 mm tall, 12 g.
  • Operating range: water from 0 to 65 °C, and pressure from 1 to 4 kgf/cm² (0.1 to 0.4 MPa).
  • Made in Korea.

The refill darkens with use, from white to beige to brown. The change interval we recommend is about every 1 to 2 months, and Changing a basin refill shows how.

The Premium shower kit

The Premium Shower Filter Kit has a sturdier, premium-quality build and an anti-slip handle, in Bright White, Opaq Misty or Jet Black. Its head filter and body filter are built in, and it is made in Korea.

The Basic kit uses the same five-layer head filter, sediment body filter and refills, and on both you can see the body filter through the handle. The Basic handle housing is clear. The difference between the two is the build and the handle.

What we leave out

These are left out of every SEASEE page:

  • No performance figures or percentages for any filter.
  • No claims about test results or standards.
  • No claims about factories or quality control; only what we can state plainly.
  • No promises about how the water will feel.

Read the dimensions and material names alongside the replacement guide on each product page.

Reading the figures

The notation

A few of the figures above use notation that is worth a line of explanation:

  • M22 x 1.0, M24 x 1.0. The letter M marks a metric thread. The first number is the thread's diameter in millimetres, and the second is the spacing between its ridges. The basin kit lists these because a tap's thread has to match a connector, which is why Will a basin filter fit my tap? starts with the thread check.
  • kgf/cm² and MPa. Both measure water pressure. The refill's published range of 1 to 4 kgf/cm² is the same as 0.1 to 0.4 MPa.

On a product page

Where we can state them, SEASEE product pages set out what is in the box, the sizes, the replacement guide and the refills a kit takes. If you want to compare kits, read the guide to every tap, and if a detail is missing, ask us on WhatsApp.
