Quick summary
- A SEASEE shower uses 13 to 26 body filters and about 6 head filters a year, or 5 to 9 sediment boxes.
- A basin filter uses 6 to 12 filters a year, 2 to 4 boxes of 3.
- A jet bidet uses 4 to 12 filters a year, 1 to 3 boxes of 5.
- A travel filter used daily takes 13 to 26 filters a year, 5 to 9 packs of 3.
- These are planning estimates; timing varies with local water conditions and use.
Over a year, one SEASEE shower uses about 13 to 26 sediment body filters and about 6 head filters. That is 5 to 9 boxes of sediment refills and 6 head refills. A basin filter uses 2 to 4 boxes, a jet bidet 1 to 3 boxes, and a travel filter in daily use 5 to 9 packs of 3.
Those are counts, not promises. Each comes from the published replacement guide and pack size; timing varies with local water conditions and use. Below, the arithmetic is set out in full so you can check it against your own home.
How the numbers are worked out
Every figure here uses the same three steps:
- Filters a year. Divide the year by the interval: 52 weeks for intervals in weeks, 12 months for intervals in months.
- Packs a year. Divide the filters a year by the number of filters in a pack.
- Round up. You cannot buy part of a box, so a result of 4.3 boxes becomes 5.
The fast end of each range is the shortest interval; the slow end is the longest. Where the guide is a single figure, such as about 2 months, the count is a single figure too.
The year at a glance
| Refill | Change about every | In a pack | Filters a year | Packs a year (rounded up) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shower body (sediment) | 2 to 4 weeks | 3 | 13 to 26 | 5 to 9 boxes |
| Shower head (five-layer) | 2 months | 1 | 6 | 6 |
| Vita C head refill | 2 months | 1 | 6 | 6 |
| Basin | 1 to 2 months | 3 | 6 to 12 | 2 to 4 boxes |
| Jet bidet | 1 to 3 months | 5 | 4 to 12 | 1 to 3 boxes |
| Travel shower | 2 to 4 weeks | 3 | 13 to 26 | 5 to 9 packs |
Device by device
Shower: body filter
52 weeks ÷ 4 weeks = 13 filters. 52 weeks ÷ 2 weeks = 26 filters. In boxes of 3, that is 13 ÷ 3 = 4.3, rounded up to 5 boxes, and 26 ÷ 3 = 8.7, rounded up to 9 boxes.
Shower: head filter
12 months ÷ 2 months = 6 filters, one per pack, so 6 head refills a year. The Basic and Premium kits take the same body and head refills, so these counts apply to either.
Vita C head refill
12 months ÷ 2 months = 6 refills, one per pack. The Vita C head refill fits the Basic and Premium kits, so if you choose it as your head filter, it takes the place of the five-layer head refill in the count rather than adding to it.
Basin
12 months ÷ 2 months = 6 filters. 12 months ÷ 1 month = 12 filters. In boxes of 3, that is 6 ÷ 3 = 2 boxes and 12 ÷ 3 = 4 boxes.
Jet bidet
12 months ÷ 3 months = 4 filters. 12 months ÷ 1 month = 12 filters. In boxes of 5, that is 4 ÷ 5 = 0.8, rounded up to 1 box, and 12 ÷ 5 = 2.4, rounded up to 3 boxes.
Travel shower
For daily use at home or on trips, change the travel filter about every 2 to 4 weeks as a guide. 52 weeks ÷ 4 weeks = 13 filters. 52 weeks ÷ 2 weeks = 26 filters. In packs of 3, that is 13 ÷ 3 = 4.3, rounded up to 5 packs, and 26 ÷ 3 = 8.7, rounded up to 9 packs. Timing varies with local water conditions and how often you use it, and occasional travel use will follow a different pace.
Your first year
The shower, basin and jet bidet kits each come with a first filter in the box, so the first year needs one refill fewer of each. A shower kit includes 1 head filter and 1 body filter, and the basin and jet bidet kits each include 1 filter.
| Refill | Filters to buy in year one | Packs (rounded up) |
|---|---|---|
| Shower body (sediment) | 12 to 25 | 4 to 9 boxes |
| Shower head (five-layer) | 5 | 5 |
| Basin | 5 to 11 | 2 to 4 boxes |
| Jet bidet | 3 to 11 | 1 to 3 boxes |
Among the boxed refills, only the low end of the sediment range drops a whole box, because 12 ÷ 3 = 4 exactly. The basin and jet bidet box counts stay the same: 5 ÷ 3 = 1.7 and 11 ÷ 3 = 3.7 round up to 2 and 4, and 3 ÷ 5 = 0.6 and 11 ÷ 5 = 2.2 round up to 1 and 3.
A whole bathroom
Take one shower kit, one basin kit and one jet bidet kit, the same three kits that come together in the Complete Bathroom Bundle. In a full year after the first, that bathroom uses:
- 5 to 9 boxes of sediment refills;
- 6 head refills;
- 2 to 4 boxes of basin refills;
- 1 to 3 boxes of jet bidet refills.
That is 14 to 22 packs to buy (5 + 6 + 2 + 1 at the slow end, 9 + 6 + 4 + 3 at the fast end), holding 32 to 60 filters. The guide intervals account for about 29 to 56 filters used over the year; rounding up whole packs leaves some spares.
How Refill Plan rhythms map to these counts
On the Refill Plan, single refills arrive every 6, 8, 12 or 16 weeks. Over 52 weeks that is about 8 to 9 deliveries at 6 weeks, 6 to 7 at 8 weeks, 4 to 5 at 12 weeks and 3 to 4 at 16 weeks. We suggest a rhythm from how long each refill lasts; here is how the counts above line up.
| Refill | One pack lasts about | Closest rhythm | Deliveries a year at that rhythm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sediment box (3) | 6 to 12 weeks | 6, 8 or 12 weeks | 8 to 9, 6 to 7, or 4 to 5 |
| Head refill (1) | 2 months | 8 weeks | 6 to 7 |
| Vita C head refill (1) | 2 months | 8 weeks | 6 to 7 |
| Basin box (3) | 3 to 6 months | 12 or 16 weeks | 4 to 5, or 3 to 4 |
| Jet bidet box (5) | 5 to 15 months | 16 weeks, with skips | 3 to 4, fewer with skips |
| Travel pack (3) | 6 to 12 weeks | 6, 8 or 12 weeks | 8 to 9, 6 to 7, or 4 to 5 |
A sediment box at 2 weeks per filter lasts 6 weeks, so the 6-week rhythm brings about 26 filters a year, the fast end of the count. At 4 weeks per filter it lasts 12 weeks, and the 12-week rhythm brings about 13. The 8-week rhythm sits in between. A travel 3-pack in daily use works the same way, because it holds three filters on the same 2-to-4-week guide. These are annualised planning figures, like the counts above.
A jet bidet box lasts longer than the longest rhythm, so on a plan you will skip some deliveries. We email you 3 days before each order, which is the moment to skip when a full box is still in the cupboard. Pause and cancel are there too, under Subscriptions in your account. The Refill Plan explained goes through each option.
