Product description

Details

The SEASEE Basin Tap Water Filter Kit fits onto a sink or basin (wastafel) faucet. It is designed to help reduce rust, dirt and residual chlorine in tap water at the faucet. Made in Korea.

What's in the kit

  • 1 basin filter body with the filter fitted, about 43 × 43 mm
  • 1 standard connector (M24 × 1.0), pre-installed
  • 7 spare connectors for other tap threads (M18 × 1.25, M20 × 1.0, M22 × 1.25, M23 × 1.0, M24 × 1.25 and two deeper M24 × 1.0)
  • Rubber rings: 1 clear, 1 black and 2 blue
  • 1 steel spanner and 1 plastic spanner

Key details

  • Three-part ACF combination filter: PP sediment layer, activated carbon fibre (ACF) and a ball-media core
  • Stainless steel face plate with about 780 fine holes (0.2 mm) for an even stream
  • Kit body made from ECOZEN, a biomass-based plastic developed by SK Chemicals (South Korea)
  • For water from 0 to 65 °C and a water pressure of 0.1 to 0.4 MPa

Check your tap first

The kit fits taps with internal threading: the outlet where the aerator screws in has its thread on the inside. Unscrew your aerator and check. The pre-installed connector is M24 × 1.0, and the 7 spare connectors cover other threads from M18 to M24. Some kitchen taps with a threaded outlet also fit.

How to fit

  1. Unscrew the aerator from your tap. Looking down from above the tap, turn it clockwise to loosen. Use the steel spanner or an adjustable wrench if it is tight.
  2. Screw the filter onto the tap outlet with the pre-installed connector (looking down from above, anticlockwise tightens). If it does not fit, change to the spare connector that matches your tap. Keep the inner rubber ring in place.
  3. Tighten slowly and check that the threads engage; forcing a thread that does not match can damage it and cause leaks.

If it leaks or does not fit

  • Leak at the joint: add one or two blue rubber rings. If it still leaks, wrap the thread with plumber's tape (not included).
  • The thread matches but the tap's thread sits deep inside: use one of the two deeper M24 × 1.0 connectors.
  • Use the clear rubber ring on the outside of the connector; if it is loose, use the black ring instead.
  • A connector stuck in the tap or the body: turn it anticlockwise with the back of the plastic spanner.

Replacement guide

  • Replace about every 1-2 months, or sooner if the filter colour changes noticeably or water pressure drops. The filter darkens from white to beige and then brown with use.

Replacement timing varies with local water conditions and how often you use the filter.

How to replace the filter

  1. Twist the cover off the body.
  2. Open the tap slightly; the water pressure pushes the used filter out of the body.
  3. Put the new filter in with its small tip facing down.
  4. Screw the cover back on gently.

Cleaning the face plate

If the stream starts to spray sideways, dirt on the face plate, such as splashes of food, soap or toothpaste, can disturb the flow. Gently brush both sides of the face plate with a soft brush, rinse it with clean water and fit it back. Use water only, no detergent. Cleaning it 2 to 3 times a month helps prevent sideways spray.

Use with compatible SEASEE products only.

Fits threaded taps

Check your tap, then screw it on.

  1. Unscrew the aerator from your tap: seen from above, turn it clockwise.

  2. Screw the filter on with the fitted connector, or a spare one that matches your tap.

  3. If the joint leaks, add one or two blue rubber rings.

Connector sizes

  • Fitted: M24 × 1.0
  • Spares: M18 × 1.25, M20 × 1.0, M22 × 1.25, M23 × 1.0, M24 × 1.25, M24 × 1.0 (two deeper)

Your tap's outlet needs an internal thread. Seen from above, turn clockwise to loosen and anticlockwise to tighten. If the thread fits but sits deep inside the tap, use one of the deeper M24 × 1.0 connectors. Some kitchen taps with a threaded outlet also fit.

Will it fit my tap?

It fits taps whose outlet has an internal thread, where the aerator screws in.
