Showering away from home with the travel shower filter

How to check, fit and pack the SEASEE travel shower filter for hotels, serviced apartments and staycations, and leave the room as you found it.

If you have got used to how your SEASEE shower feels at home, a hotel bathroom can feel like a small change in routine. The SEASEE Travel Shower Filter Kit is a compact filter you can take with you, so the shower on a work trip, a staycation or a long stay in a serviced apartment can follow the same habit as the one at home.

This is a comfort and routine choice. At home, Singapore's tap water is treated by PUB, the national water agency, and is safe to drink straight from the tap. The travel filter is simply for people who like to keep their shower the way they prefer it, wherever they are.

What the travel filter is

The travel filter is a small portable filter that fits between a shower hose and a shower head. It does not replace the shower head; it sits in the line just below it. The kit contains one travel shower filter, and refills come as a 3-pack. Like every SEASEE filter, it is made in Korea.

It works at home too. If you rent and would rather not change your hand shower, or you want a second shower set up quickly, the same filter fits the same way.

Will it fit the shower in your room?

The filter needs a shower head that unscrews from a hose. Before you unpack it, look for:

  • a handheld shower on a flexible hose;
  • a shower head that turns off the hose by hand, without tools;
  • enough slack in the hose for a few extra centimetres of filter.

If the room only has a fixed overhead shower with no hose, the travel filter is not designed for it. The product images show the filter's dimensions and the installation diagram, which helps when you are checking a shower you have not seen before.

Fitting it in three steps

Turn off the water first, and keep a towel close for drips.

  1. Remove the connection between the shower head and the hose. Turn the shower head anticlockwise by hand until it comes off.
  2. Connect the SEASEE travel filter to the bottom of the shower head. Screw it on straight and hand-tight.
  3. Connect the filter to the hose. Screw the hose onto the other end of the filter, again hand-tight.

Run the water for a moment and check both joints. If one drips, turn the water off, undo it, check that the threads are straight, and screw it back on by hand. If a fitting will not turn easily, stop there rather than forcing it; the room's shower is not yours to strain.

Leaving the room as you found it

A good guest puts things back. Before you check out:

  1. Turn off the water.
  2. Unscrew the hose from the filter and the filter from the shower head.
  3. Screw the shower head back onto the hose, hand-tight, and run the water to check it does not drip.
  4. Shake the water out of the filter and pack it in its own bag, away from clothes.

Leave yourself a moment for this on the last morning. It is easy to forget when you are rushing for a taxi.

Packing list

Item Why
Travel Shower Filter Kit The filter itself
A spare filter from the refill pack For longer stays, or if the first looks dark
Small sealable bag Keeps a damp filter away from clothes
Soft cloth A better grip on a slippery shower head

How long does a travel filter last?

As a guide, change the travel filter about every 2 to 4 weeks of use; timing varies with local water conditions and how often you use it. Look at the filter as you would at home. Change it sooner if it looks dark or the water pressure drops, and keep a spare in your bag on longer stays.

The Travel Shower Filter Refill 3-Pack holds 3 filters. If you travel often, the 6-Month Travel Purpose Bundle puts the kit and a 3-pack of refills in one order.

Refills without the remembering

The travel refill can go on the Refill Plan. Choose how often it arrives, every 6, 8, 12 or 16 weeks, and each refill on the plan costs 10% less than buying it once. We email you 3 days before each order, so if a trip is coming up you have time to skip a delivery or pause the plan from Subscriptions in your account. The plan renews until you cancel it, with no minimum number of deliveries and no cancellation fee.

Before you book

If you are unsure whether the shower in a hotel or apartment will take the filter, ask the property whether the room has a handheld shower on a hose. For questions about the filter itself, send us a message on WhatsApp, or browse the travel collection.
