A handheld shower with built-in filters
Here the whole hand shower is replaced: you unscrew the one you have from the hose and screw the filter shower on in its place, hand-tight. The filters live inside it.

An inline filter between the hose and the shower head
An inline filter does not replace anything. It sits in the line between the end of the hose and the bottom of the shower head, so your shower head stays exactly as it is.

The SEASEE Vita C Shower Head Filter is an external Vitamin C filter cartridge, gel-type and scented with natural essential oils, in Seasee (ocean), Lavender or Rose. It is made in Korea. It is the one to look at if a scented shower is what you are after, and its product page shows how it connects.
Scent is not limited to that product. The Vita C head refill, a five-layer head filter with a Vitamin C gel layer, fits the Basic and Premium kits, so a handheld filter shower can take a scented head filter too. It is changed about every 2 months as a guide.

Which format suits which shower
A home you own
If the shower is yours to keep, a handheld shower with built-in filters is a settled choice. Everything sits in one hand shower, and you change the filters on a known rhythm. Choose Basic for a first filter shower with a clear handle, or Premium for a sturdier, premium-quality build and an anti-slip handle in Bright White, Opaq Misty or Jet Black. A rental
Renting does not rule out a filter. The Basic and Premium kits and the travel filter are designed for home installation on a standard shower hose, so the real question is what you hand back. With the Basic or Premium kit, you keep the landlord's hand shower in a drawer and screw it back on when you move out. With the travel filter, the shower head never leaves the room: you add the filter below it and take it away again.
A trip
For hotels, serviced apartments and staycations, the inline format is the one designed to travel. It is small, it leaves the room's shower head in place, and it comes off again on the last morning. Showering away from home covers checking, fitting, packing and removing it.
